Launch of

Merv the World's Largest Oyster

The Merimbula Oyster Festival Monument

Merv the World's Largest Oyster was launched on Easter Saturday, 20 April 2019, at the Old School Museum in Merimbula. The launch was timed to coincide with the opening of an exhibition staged by the Merimbula-Imlay Historical Society celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the inaugural Merimbula Oyster Festival.

The book was launched by Susan Stephenson, a member of the inaugural Merimbula Oyster Festival Committee in 1979, and the only member to serve on all subsequent Festival Committees. A number of former Committee members attended to support the launch of the book, and messages of support were received from other members unable to attend - their messages were shared with the gathering.

It was a great afternoon enjoyed by many, particularly the author and the former members of the Merimbula Oyster Festivals who were thrilled to have their achievements acknowledged and celebrated after 40 years.
